As we are in the forefront of the Twi language learning software market, we have always tried very hard to make the beautiful Akan language easy to learn through modern technology. Nkyea Learning Systems was the first developer to publish a Twi audio phrase book app called Nkyea Twi Phrasebook on the Apple iPhone mobile device. We are following this up by bringing Nkyea Twi Primer, our highly successful PC and Macintosh Twi learning software, to Apple’s incredible iPad tablet device. The app is called Nkyea Twi Essentials and it will take advantage of the large screen, multi-touch and other features of the iPad tablet.
We started working on the app a couple of months ago and are pleased to say that we are finally done with programming its look, feel and flow. The app consists of the grammar and vocabulary sections from Nkyea Twi Primer with additional topics and more vocabulary. We are now putting finishing touches to a few last minute features. Audio recording for the app’s words and phrases began yesterday in Cape Coast. We shall record and edit all the audio clips (over a 1000 in all) within three weeks. Nkyea Twi Essentials will be launched in September 2010. An iPhone version will also be available for download.
Below are a few of Nkyea Twi Essentials’ exciting features.
• Basic to advanced Twi vocabulary
• More Twi words and phrases than any app or book that teaches Twi
• Record and compare with the native speaker in the app
• Learn the Adinkra Symbols
• Save topics and favourite words and phrases for later study
• Share topics you are learning with your friends on Facebook and Twitter and by E-mail
Get Nkyea Twi Essentials on your iPad when it hits the App Store. Just download the app and it will help you to speak Twi with understanding using our easy Twi teaching technique.

I really want to learn Fante but I could not find courses in Fante. I decided to study twi and later learn the differences if I could communicate in twi. Is this a good approach? Is there enough interest to develop a course in Fante?
Yes, it’s a reasonable approach considering the fact that both dialects come from the same Akan language. When you learn Twi you will be able to understand what a Fante person says even though the accent is different.
